Having been an apprentice in Scotland at the Longmorn and Hazelburn distilleries; Masataka returned to Japan and was tasked with helping build the Suntory Yamazaki Distillery. In 1936 Yoichi Disttillery began production, and 4 years later in 1940 the first 'Nikka'Whisky was launched.
